Where is As-Salaam
As-Salaam is situated on a hilltop in the midst of a rural settlement adjacent to Braemar which is approximately 90km from Durban in the South Coast of KwaZulu Natal. The area is occupied mainly by Zulu-speaking people who live in mud huts dotted around the institute. In contrast to urban areas, the inhabitants of the area live a simple way of life. There is no piped water, electricity or roads to serve these residents and there is little change in their material condition for decades. Despite these handicaps, the tranquil and peaceful environment, the school facilities and the goodwill that has been built between As-Salaam and the school community provide an ideal environment in which education and Dawah can flourish.
